AirBorneo Signs MRO Deal With Pratt & Whitney Canada

SINGAPORE, Sept 24 (Bernama) -- Sarawak-owned carrier, AirBorneo Airways has inked a four-year deal with Pratt & Whitney Canada for comprehensive maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services through 2030.
In a statement, the airline said the contract entails MRO services for the PW127M engines powering its ATR 72-500 regional turboprop fleet.
The airline operates its fleet of ATR 72-500 aircraft on the Rural Air Services network, a vital public service that connects remote and underserved communities across East Malaysia.
AirBorneo’s engines will be primarily maintained at Pratt & Whitney Canada's Singapore facility, a key hub for customer support across the Asia-Pacific.
The PW127M is part of Pratt & Whitney Canada’s PW100 engine family, which has provided regional turboprop operations for more than 40 years.
AirBorneo chief executive officer, Megat Ardian Aminuddin, said the support provided by Pratt & Whitney Canada in its Singapore facility enables the airline to have its engines maintained and repaired closer to home, allowing its aircraft to return to service faster.
"That confidence gives us the operational certainty we need to consistently serve our customers on our intra-Borneo routes where reliable air transport is a vital link for remote communities,” he said.
