Vietnam's Sun Phuquoc Airways Launches Direct KL-Phu Quoc Service

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 2 (Bernama) -- Vietnam-based full-service carrier Sun PhuQuoc Airways (SPA) launched its direct Kuala Lumpur (KL)-Phu Quoc service on Sept 1, 2026, marking the inaugural flight of the new route and opening a new chapter in air connectivity between Malaysia and Vietnam’s popular island destination.

In a statement today, the carrier said the KL-Phu Quoc route operates one daily round-trip flight and takes about 95 minutes each way.

It said the new route reflects coordination among stakeholders to strengthen air connectivity, support two-way travel and tourism flows, and expand tourism cooperation between Vietnam and Malaysia as the country advances its Visit Malaysia 2026 campaign.

“On the new route, SPA continues to deliver its ‘Resort in the Sky’ experience, with complimentary checked baggage, a light meal and beverages included in the fare,” it said.

Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd managing director Datuk Mohd Izani Ghani said airline networks are evolving beyond traditional capital-to-capital connections, with strong leisure destinations increasingly supporting direct international services of their own.

“This is creating new connectivity opportunities within ASEAN, and Kuala Lumpur International Airport’s growing network puts us in a good position to support that evolution and connect Malaysia with emerging destinations and new airline models across the region,” he said.
