Bursa Malaysia Stays Lower At Mid-Morning

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 13 (Bernama) -- Bursa Malaysia’s key index remained lower at mid-morning, weighed down by selected heavyweights, led by plantation, financial and industrial product counters.

At 11 am, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) slid 7.58 points to 1,734.03 from Wednesday’s close of 1,741.61.

The benchmark index opened 1.18 points higher at 1,742.79.

The broader market was negative, with losers outpacing gainers 529 to 316, while 512 counters were unchanged, 1,441 untraded, and 15 suspended.

Turnover amounted to 1.39 billion units worth RM829.67 million.

Among the heavyweights, CIMB Group gained four sen to RM7.96, but Maybank shed two sen to RM10.58, Public Bank and IHH Healthcare slid four sen each to RM5.15 and RM8.31, respectively, and Tenaga Nasional was eight sen lower to RM14.50.

On the most active list, Key ASIC added three sen to 6.5 sen, Ekovest was one sen higher to 21 sen, Oppstar rose four sen to 72.5 sen, and HHRG was half a sen higher at 16 sen, while NationGate gained three sen to RM1.53.

Among top gainers, Nestle surged RM1 to RM103.90, Malaysian Pacific Industries rose 48 sen to RM47.98, UMS Integration gained 20 sen to RM8.35, Ideal Capital firmed 18 sen to RM3.68, and Vitrox Corporation put on 13 sen to RM9.57.

As for the top losers, United Plantations slid 32 sen to RM33.28, Hong Leong Bank fell 30 sen to RM22.40, PPB Group dropped 19 sen to RM9.34, Malaysia Smelting Corporation lost 19 sen to RM2.03 and Allianz Malaysia erased 19 sen to RM21.92.

Among the broader indices, the FBM ACE Index advanced 17.25 points to 5,220.68, but the FBM Emas Index eased 52.45 points to 12,866.25, and the FBMT 100 Index slid 50.18 points to 12,678.65.

The FBM Emas Shariah Index fell 59.32 points to 12,711.56, and the FBM 70 Index gave up 50.23 points to 18,385.58.

By sector, the Energy Index edged up 1.31 points to 787.05, the Financial Services Index gave up 63.24 points to 20,336.79, and the Plantation Index slipped 101.85 points to 9,366.48, while the Industrial Products and Services Index edged down 1.02 points to 189.33.
