Teraju Approves RM101.40 Mln In Financing For 186 Johor Bumiputera Entrepreneurs
JOHOR BAHRU, Nov 3 (Bernama) -- The Bumiputera Agenda Steering Unit (TERAJU) has approved RM101.40 million in financing for 186 Bumiputera companies in Johor through two financing programmes between Dec 1, 2024, and Oct 16, 2026.
TERAJU chief executive officer Junady Nawawi said RM69 million was approved for 42 Bumiputera companies through the Bumiputera Expansion and Catalyst Fund (BECF), while RM32.4 million was channelled to 144 companies through the Islamic Working Capital and Project Financing (IWCPF) programme.
He said the financing was part of TERAJU's efforts to strengthen the capabilities of Bumiputera companies so that they are better prepared to participate in business opportunities and industrial supply chains, particularly through the development of the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ).
"In Johor, our approach is slightly different. This time we have chosen a symposium format that focuses more on discussions about the economic direction, investment opportunities, business opportunities, and job opportunities that may be created through economic growth in Johor and the Southern Zone.
"We want entrepreneurs to have a clearer picture of the current economic developments and how they can take advantage of the existing opportunities, including those opened up by the development of JS-SEZ, particularly in the development of the industrial supply chain," he said.
He said this at the TERAJU Business Aspirations Symposium (TABS) Johor 2026 here today, which was officiated by Johor State Investment, Trade, Consumer Affairs and Human Resources deputy committee chairman Syed Hussein Syed Abdullah, representing the Johor Menteri Besar, Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi.
Also present were Johor State Youth and Sports, Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives deputy committee chairman Nadhirah Afiqah Abdul Rahim, Johor State Housing and Local Government deputy committee chairman Zaidi Abd Jabar, and Invest Johor chief executive officer, Natazha Hariss.
Commenting further, Junady said TERAJU provides a structured company development pathway through the ASCEND, ENHANCE, and ACCELERATE programmes, tailored according to companies’ growth stages and business needs.
He said the ASCEND programme focuses on strengthening the financial, management and operational foundations of companies, while ENHANCE helps companies prepare to attract investment and access capital markets.
The ACCELERATE programme, on the other hand, is targeted at more mature companies that have the potential or are ready to be listed on Bursa Malaysia, with the support of the Bumiputera Strategic Acquisition Fund (BSAF) for strategic business development.
"This approach connects capacity development with capital and market access," he said.
He noted that TERAJU's achievements are not only measured by the amount of financing approved but also take into account companies' ability to grow, penetrate new markets, create more job opportunities and build their own ecosystems in their respective sectors.
Regarding TABS, he said Johor is the final destination for this year's TERAJU Aspirasi Tour series after the same programme was held in Kuala Lumpur, Sabah, Sarawak, Penang and Pahang.
He said the symposium in Johor focused on discussions on the economic direction, investment opportunities, and business and job opportunities that could potentially be created through economic growth in the state and the Southern Zone.
He added that the platform also provides entrepreneurs with a clearer picture of current economic developments, in addition to helping them build strategic networks with TERAJU and ecosystem partners.
He also expressed hope that the organisation of TABS 2026 would serve as a catalyst for more Bumiputera companies in Johor to develop into more competitive, robust enterprises capable of exploring broader markets.
