Angelalign Unveils Clear Aligner Material For Complex Cases

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 3 (Bernama) -- Angelalign Technology Inc  (Angel), a global clear aligner leader, has unveiled SuperElastic (MC-SE), a new proprietary clear aligner material that it says gives orthodontists more control in treating complex cases.

The material will be available globally once the necessary regulatory registrations are received, and its trademark registration is pending.

“MC-SE is the result of seven years of materials research, testing and manufacturing optimisation,” said Angelalign chief executive officer, Fox Hu in a statement.

Hu said the material aims to let orthodontists differentiate their treatment from others.

MC-SE incorporates medical-grade polyamides, a family of materials that includes Kevlar and nylon, into a multi-layer structure. The company’s current aligner material is a soft, multi-layered polymer based on PETG plastic.

Angelalign said the new material delivers continuous force at biologically safe levels throughout the wear cycle and can bend and stretch further than conventional materials before returning to its original shape.

In the company’s three-point bending tests at eight per cent strain, MC-SE sprang back to its original flat shape, while samples of commonly used PETG and its current material remained visibly bent.

The company said the material was inspired by nickel-titanium archwires, which orthodontists value for their low, continuous force in traditional braces.

Angelalign plans to develop MC-SE into a material platform, with variations designed to produce different force effects.
