KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 20 (Bernama) -- The Kuala Lumpur rubber market ended firmer on Tuesday, supported by gains in regional rubber futures markets coupled with steady benchmark crude oil prices, said a dealer.
The dealer said prices were also supported by supply concerns due to the rainy season in major producing countries and encouraging growth in China’s rubber tyre exports.
“Oil prices rose to a five-month high as current attacks on Saudi Arabia infrastructure and vessel in the Gulf heightened geopolitical risks,” he told Bernama.
At the time of writing, Brent crude oil prices rose 1.45 per cent to US$111.14 per barrel (US$1=RM4.07).
The dealer noted that Thailand’s meteorological agency warned of heavy rain and flash floods from Oct 19-25.
“In addition, China’s rubber tyre exports rose 2.7 per cent year-on-year to 7.48 million tonnes in the first nine months of 2026, according to customs data,” he added.
At 3 pm, the Malaysian Rubber Board’s Standard Malaysian Rubber 20 (SMR 20) price increased 10.5 sen to 1,047 sen per kilogramme (kg) while bulk latex gained three sen to 796.5 sen per kg.
