Gamuda-MiTAC JV Wins RM3.72 Bln Keelung MRT Contract In Taiwan
KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 14 (Bernama) -- Gamuda Bhd and Taiwan-based MiTAC Information Technology Corp’s joint venture (JV) has secured a NT$29.22 billion (approximately RM3.72 billion) contract to design and construct the Keelung Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) system and trackwork project in Taiwan.
In a Bursa Malaysia filing today, Gamuda said it holds a 72.84 per cent participating interest in the JV, with its share of the contract amounting to approximately RM2.71 billion, while MiTAC holds the remaining 27.16 per cent.
It said that the contract was awarded today by New Taipei City Government’s Department of Rapid Transit Systems.
“The Keelung MRT project encompasses trackwork and systems across the full 15.6 km alignment, serving 13 stations,” Gamuda said.
The alignment spans Taipei City, New Taipei City and Keelung City, with a project duration of 2,820 days, or approximately 7.7 years.
Gamuda said the project is one of the designated additional works under the Xizhi–Donghu MRT project, which it secured on Oct 22, 2024.
“The project is expected to contribute positively to the revenue and earnings of Gamuda Group from the financial year ending July 31, 2027 until the completion of the project,” it said.
