Yuhang Zone Positions Itself As Smart Manufacturing Hub
KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 12 (Bernama) -- The fifth Global Digital Trade Expo was held in Hangzhou, east China’s Zhejiang Province, gathering over 2,000 global companies to showcase cutting-edge applications of artificial intelligence in digital trade.
Among the exhibitors were Hangzhou Xynova Technology Co Ltd (Xynova), which showcased its high-degree-of-freedom dexterous hands, and Bibo (Hangzhou) Automotive Electronics Co Ltd, which presented its intelligent automotive chassis solutions. Both companies are based in the Yuhang Economic Development Zone.
Located in northern Hangzhou, the provincial-level development zone serves as the main industrial platform of Yuhang District and is positioning itself as a hub for intelligent manufacturing and innovation.
According to a statement, the zone is developing industries spanning smart manufacturing, new equipment, new materials and new energy, with specialised sectors in chips, robotics and digital energy, while advancing manufacturing through digitalisation, technological sophistication and sustainability.
The zone has developed industrial facilities and support services for companies at different stages of growth. Renheli Hangshi Intelligent Manufacturing Center, jointly developed by Hangzhou Industrial Investment Group and state-owned enterprises of the zone, offers 210,000 square metres of industrial space, including factories and research and development (R&D) offices.
For semiconductor companies, Xinchuang Space · Yuhang Semiconductor Industrial Park provides specialised facilities, including Class 10,000 and Class 100,000 cleanrooms, alongside space for R&D, incubation, business expansion and production. The 98,000-square-metre park is designed to support collaboration across the semiconductor value chain.
Zichuang Future Smart Manufacturing Valley offers 56,000 square metres of flexible industrial space for companies in electronics and information technology, instrumentation, and machinery and equipment. Its services include investment and financing support, assistance with government science and technology programme applications, and human resources.
The zone also caters to specialised and innovation-driven enterprises through its SRDI Complex, which offers flexible industrial and office layouts alongside shared facilities, while a new general equipment manufacturing project with a planned floor area of 103,012.55 square metres is scheduled to begin construction in December 2026.
Under its “mega-incubator” strategy, the zone provides support covering government policy applications, intellectual property, investment and financing, talent recruitment and development, and industrial-chain partnerships, aiming to help businesses progress from technology development to commercial production.
The zone is also integrating industrial development with urban amenities, including a 12-kilometre waterfront walking trail, talent apartments, commercial facilities and schools, as it seeks to attract innovators and businesses serving domestic and international markets.
