First-Home Buyers To Save On Stamp Duty With Threshold Raised To RM750,000 -- Juwai IQI

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 12 (Bernama) -- Juwai IQI advised first-home buyers to wait until January 2027 to sign their sales and purchase agreement if the property they intend to buy is priced between RM500,000 and RM750,000.

In a statement today, the international real estate technology group said Budget 2027 extends the property threshold price to RM750,000 from the previous RM500,000.

“Before January 2027, you will not get any stamp duty exemption, but from January 2027 onwards you could save more than RM15,500. That amount assumes a 90 per cent loan on a RM750,000 property,” Juwai IQI co-founder and group chief executive officer Kashif Ansari said.

The second benefit is that this relief is until 2030, the statement said.

"Clearly, the government has recognised the importance of this measure. It has extended it in two ways, raised the maximum price that qualifies for the exemption, and the government has extended the programme out through 2030," he said.

Ansari said the allocation of nearly RM1 billion for public housing initiatives, including the Rumah Mesra Rakyat programme and Program Residensi Rakyat (PRR), is the third big thing, especially among lower-income buyers.

"Both Rumah Mesra Rakyat and PRR have a significant impact on thousands of families,” he said.

Kashif also said the RM20 billion housing financing guarantees under the Housing Credit Guarantee Scheme (SJKP) could assist about 80,000 first-time buyers, particularly self-employed individuals without fixed incomes.
