Halal Development Corporation Appoints Hanisofian Alias As CEO

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 5 (Bernama) -- Halal Development Corporation Bhd (HDC) has appointed Hanisofian Alias as chief executive officer (CEO) effective from Oct 1, 2026, after serving as interim CEO since January this year. 

“He previously served as HDC’s chief industry development officer, where he was responsible for areas including industry governance, industry and market development, sector competitiveness, knowledge management and international cooperation,” HDC said in a statement today.

With extensive experience in halal industry development and private-sector management, Hanisofian has been with HDC since 2008, contributing to the development of Malaysia’s halal ecosystem and the organisation’s industry and international cooperation initiatives.

Prior to joining HDC, he spent 13 years with a multinational company, gaining experience in new product development, manufacturing operations, supplier quality management and innovative project management, including initiatives focused on quality, productivity and cost improvement.

Hanisofian holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) and a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Electronics from the University of Manchester, United Kingdom.

His appointment as CEO provides continuity in HDC’s ongoing efforts to strengthen Malaysia’s halal ecosystem and support the implementation of the Halal Industry Master Plan 2030, particularly in enhancing industry competitiveness especially for the Small and Medium Enterprises, market access, investment and international cooperation, said the agency.

HDC said it remains committed to strengthening its role under the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) in developing an integrated and competitive halal ecosystem and supporting Malaysian halal industry players to expand into domestic and international markets.
