KDEBWM Strengthens Governance, Logistics Management Through Collaboration With Caltex

SHAH ALAM, Sept 30 (Bernama) -- KDEB Waste Management (KDEBWM) is strengthening its governance and improving logistics efficiency through a collaboration with Chevron Malaysia Ltd (Caltex) involving the use of Caltex StarCard.

KDEBWM managing director Datuk Ramli Mohd Tahir said the cards would be distributed to 452 representatives of subcontractor companies and lorry operators under the solid waste management company.

“Through this initiative, we can ensure all KDEB lorries use the selected fuel, namely Caltex Euro 5 diesel, more efficiently via the special cards. The 452 subcontractor representatives will receive the cards immediately, together with security PINs,” he said after the launch ceremony, which was also attended by Caltex Malaysia chairman Leong Jee Wong at the Selangor International Trade Centre (SITC) here today.

Ramli said the physical cards would enable management to monitor fuel purchases in real time for utility vehicles operating across various districts in Selangor. He said the new system replaced the conventional cash-based method, which posed risks of misuse and made it difficult to closely monitor fuel consumption.

“Previously, we used cash, for example, by giving it to drivers, which posed the risk of misuse and could result in losses. With StarCard, every transaction is digitally tracked, allowing management to check the station location, refuelling time and volume of fuel purchased through a virtual dashboard in real time,” he added.

Ramli said the system would also help prevent fuel diversion, which could result in losses to the company and that the long-term collaboration would also provide additional benefits, including rebates, reward points and more systematic corporate expense management.

Meanwhile, Leong said Caltex StarCard allowed businesses to set purchase limits and maintain systematic transaction records and account statements, subject to agreed terms and conditions.

“The integrated StarCard platform enables businesses to monitor spending, generate reports and manage expenditure via mobile devices or the web. Enhanced security features, including PIN activation and fraud detection through StarCard Online, provide greater peace of mind while helping businesses optimise workflows and improve efficiency,” he added.
