Malaysia’s Digital Companies Ready To Compete Globally -- MATRADE
KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 24 (Bernama) -- Malaysia’s digital and tech-based companies have the capability to compete globally and the participation in the 5th Global Digital Trade Expo (GDTE) is a step forward in tapping China’s huge digital economy, said Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE).
Its chief executive officer Datuk Abu Bakar Yusof said the participation also aligns with MATRADE’s export strategies to diversify its market in China by focusing on second, third and fourth tier cities as well to diversify its product mix to also include high-tech based goods and solutions.
In a statement, MATRADE said it gathered 15 exhibitors and four government agencies at the Malaysia Pavilion at the 5th GDTE, held from Sept 23–27 at the Hangzhou Grand Convention and Exhibition Centre.
It said the pavilion highlighted Malaysia’s strengths and innovations across digital trade, artificial intelligence, cloud services, smart healthcare and cross-border e-commerce.
MATRADE also exchanged a memorandum of understanding with Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC) to scale the export capacity of Malaysian micro, small and medium enterprises and ease their access into China’s market including through a cross-border digital trade platform.
“This year's GDTE is held under the theme "Meeting the AI Future," with international exhibitors accounting for more than 20 per cent of the expo's 170,000 square-metre exhibition area.
“Malaysia and Hungary serve as joint Countries of Honour, drawing representatives from 121 countries and regions and 29 international organisations,” it said.
