Airbus Unit, Cebu Pacific Ink 12-Year Deal For A320 Maintenance, EOL Checks
SINGAPORE, Sept 23 (Bernama) -- Airbus’ wholly-owned subsidiary, Sepang Aircraft Engineering (SAE), has inked a contract with Cebu Pacific of the Philippines for 12-year aircraft maintenance and end-of-lease (EOL) checks on seven A320 aircraft.
Airbus said the maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) work will take place at SAE’s facility, which has a combined area of 50,000 square metres at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) between 2027 and 2028.
SAE general manager and Airbus representative for Malaysia, Burhanudin Noordin Ali, said the latest agreement is a clear sign of the trust and confidence the carrier places in the company's work. SAE has been conducting heavy maintenance and ad hoc EOL checks, aircraft engine changes, and skin panel replacement work for the airline.
"SAE and Cebu Pacific have developed a strong collaborative relationship," he said in a statement.
Meanwhile, Cebu Pacific vice president for engineering and fleet management, Shevantha Weerasekera, said the continued partnership with SAE provides trusted MRO expertise to support the maintenance and airworthiness of its A320 fleet. "As we prepare the aircraft for return to its lessor, working with experienced maintenance partners allows us to ensure that the aircraft is maintained to the required standards and remains in optimal condition for a smooth and efficient redelivery," he added.
