Guangxi’s Gangbei District Paper Industry Output Rises 24.37 Pct
KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 22 (Bernama) -- Paper manufacturing and paper products output in Gangbei District, Guigang City, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, rose 24.37 per cent year-on-year from January to July this year, according to data from the Bureau of Industry and Information Technology.
According to a statement, the district is leveraging its location along the Xijiang River and its access to ASEAN markets to develop its modern paper industry, supported by opportunities arising from the construction of the Pinglu Canal Economic Belt.
Production and exports have also expanded, with Guigang Longpai Paper Products Co Ltd recording more than 60 million Chinese yuan in household paper exports in the first half of the year, up 100.7 per cent year-on-year. Its products are exported to Australia, Canada, South America, Asia and other markets. (100 Chinese yuan = RM60.81)
The Guangdong-Guangxi Circular Industrial Park serves as a key platform for the district’s paper industry, which has developed into a broader industrial chain covering "pulping, papermaking and deep processing". The China-ASEAN Household Paper Industrial Park now hosts 35 pulp and paper enterprises.
Gangbei District is also attracting investment to strengthen the industrial chain, including projects involving high-end speciality paper, paper product processing and environmental protection. Major projects such as Lee & Man Paper, Lezan Phase II and Longpai Recycled Pulp are being advanced.
The district industrial parks provide enterprises with access to supporting resources, including pulp and steam, while measures to reduce papermaking steam and logistics costs have helped improve production efficiency.
Local companies are also expanding their brands and overseas markets. Paper brands including "Jiman", "Mandian" and "Hetianxia" have gained market presence, while the district is encouraging enterprises to establish overseas warehousing and marketing networks to expand exports.
Gangbei District has established dedicated teams to assist enterprises with issues including land use, financing, energy consumption and environmental assessments, while supporting companies in developing domestic and ASEAN markets.
