Sharp Connect 2026 Brings Smarter, Connected Solutions Closer To Sabah

KOTA KINABALU, Sept 3 (Bernama) -- Sharp Electronics (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd is expanding beyond traditional home appliances through ‘Sharp Connect 2026’, showcasing a broader ecosystem of smart and connected solutions for workplaces, education, hospitality and other sectors.

Held here in collaboration with its strategic East Malaysian partner Ambang Angkasa Sabah Sdn Bhd, the connectivity tour highlights Sharp’s transformation into a broader solutions provider, combining technology, local expertise and after-sales support.

The showcase features four major solution areas designed to connect home and workplace environments while demonstrating how technology can enhance productivity, collaboration and efficiency.

Sharp Electronics (Malaysia) managing director Ting Yang Chung said East Malaysia, particularly Kuching and Sabah, was chosen as the first destination for the initiative because of its growth potential and the company’s long-standing partnerships with local players.

“I think first, why we chose East Malaysia, especially Kuching and also Sabah, as the first station is because we try to bring all the smart work-life solutions here. So, to cross over between home and also office-area solutions.

“As we say, for working hours and also home living, I think we have to improve all the smarter working styles for all of Sabah and for all companies,” he told reporters after the launch of the event here today.

Sabah Deputy Finance Minister Datuk Chong Chen Bin launched the event, with Sabah Assistant Education, Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Jordan Jude Ellron also in attendance.

Ting said Sharp also plans to bring technologies from the United States, Europe and Japan while working with Malaysian system integration partners to develop solutions suited to local requirements.

The solutions showcased include smart interactive systems, hospitality solutions, air-care technologies, multifunction printers and education solutions designed to improve collaboration and connectivity.

He said integrated solutions were expected to become an increasingly important part of Sharp Malaysia’s business, with the company targeting more than 40 per cent of revenue from business-to-business solutions by the end of 2027.

Meanwhile, Sharp Electronics (Malaysia) chief operating officer for smart workplace Levity Suto said the company’s expansion into integrated solutions reflected opportunities arising from digitalisation, particularly in helping businesses improve productivity and existing systems.

“‘In Step with Your Future’ is a slogan that Sharp Japan has launched. Most importantly, it is about understanding and aligning with our customers’ objectives, because everyone has different outcomes that they want to achieve,” she said.

On connectivity challenges in Sabah, Suto said Sharp’s devices were designed to function even in areas with limited broadband access, allowing educational modules and software to be stored directly on the devices to ensure continuity in learning.

Ambang Angkasa chief executive officer Datuk Ravend Naiker said Sharp’s integrated solutions could provide greater convenience to government agencies and corporate clients in Sabah by offering access to a range of technologies and services through a single provider.

“We are very confident that we have good products. We want to stand out from the competition, although we cannot stop other brands from competing as well.

“What we are trying to tell our audience, customers and future customers is: give us an opportunity. We have the latest technology, and we are prepared to serve you better,” he said.

Through Sharp Connect 2026, the company is positioning its technologies across homes, offices, classrooms, hotels, healthcare facilities, retail premises and industrial operations as it moves towards delivering more integrated and connected solutions.
