Harlina Samson Appointed Bernama Economic News Service Deputy Editor-In-Chief

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 28 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) today announced the appointment of Harlina Samson as Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the Economic News Service, effective Sept 1.

The appointment was announced by Bernama Chief Executive Officer Datin Paduka Nur-ul Afida Kamaludin. Also present were Editor-in-Chief Arul Rajoo Durar Raj and Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the News Service Mohd Shukri Ishak.

Harlina, 58, was promoted to the position after serving in an acting capacity since Feb 1, 2026, following the mandatory retirement of Azlina Aziz on Jan 12, 2026.

She joined Bernama on Dec 16, 1991, and has held several positions, including Executive Editor of the News Service, Head of the Bernama Sarawak Bureau, and Head of Policy and Strategic Planning.

Harlina holds a Diploma in Mass Communication (Journalism), equivalent to a degree, from Institut Teknologi MARA (now Universiti Teknologi MARA), as well as a Master of Science in Corporate Communications from Universiti Putra Malaysia.
