MBSB Bank-Huawei Technologies In RM400 Mln Financing To Support 5G Infrastructure

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 3 (Bernama) -- MBSB Bank Bhd has entered into a RM400 million structured receivable purchase facility with Huawei Technologies (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd, supporting the deployment of equipment and services for U Mobile’s 5G Radio Access Network.

In a statement today, MBSB said the shariah-compliant facility enables Huawei to monetise its receivables, improving working capital while supporting the continued rollout of Malaysia’s digital infrastructure.

The transaction marks Huawei Malaysia’s first utilisation of an Islamic structured receivables purchase financing solution and is among MBSB Bank’s largest structured trade and receivables financing transactions to date.

MBSB Group chief executive officer Rafe Haneef said financing must evolve alongside technology, as Malaysia accelerates its digital transformation.

“Beyond financing, the partner reflects MBSB’s commitment to enabling investments that strengthen national infrastructure, support economic growth and position Malaysia for the future,” he said.
