MISC Share Up 1.75 Pct After Securing Long-term LNG Carrier Charter Contract
KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 3 (Bernama) -- MISC Bhd’s share price rose 1.75 per cent on Monday after it secured a contract from Malaysia LNG Sdn Bhd (MLNG), the operator of Petronas liquefied natural gas (LNG) Complex in Bintulu, Sarawak.
The global leader in energy-related maritime solutions and services said the contract entailed a long-term charter of a newbuild 18,700 cubic metres (cbm) LNG carrier.
At 10.19 am, the share price climbed 14 sen to RM8.13, with 60,000 shares traded.
Last Friday, the company said it has entered into a shipbuilding contract on July 30, 2026, with Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding (Group) Co Ltd, the largest shipbuilding enterprise under China State Shipbuilding Corporation Ltd, for the construction of the LNG carrier.
"The project will be for a firm charter period of 10 years, with commencement expected in 2028.
"MISC, through its subsidiary, will provide the LNG shipping services to MLNG, it said.
