Co-opbank Pertama Organises MMKI 2026 To Strengthen Islamic Finance Ecosystem

KUALA LUMPUR, July 30 (Bernama) -- Co-opbank Pertama (CBP) is organising the Muzakarah Muamalat Kewangan Islam (MMKI) 2026 event, themed “Between Reality and Perception: Empowering the Narrative of Islamic Banking, Reputation, and Credibility of the Islamic Financial System”, to strengthen the ecosystem and elevate Islamic finance.

In a statement today, CBP said MMKI 2026 will bring together Islamic scholars and Islamic finance experts to discuss perception challenges, the need to strengthen public confidence, and the role of knowledge and dialogue in empowering the Islamic financial system.

CBP chairman Datuk Baharom Embi said the second edition of the MMKI reflects the organisation’s commitment to strengthening the narrative of Islamic finance and enhancing public confidence in the Islamic financial system.

“On this basis, for the second MMKI in 2026, CBP has chosen the theme ‘Between Reality and Perception: Empowering the Narrative of Islamic Banking, Reputation, and Credibility of the Islamic Financial System’,” he said.

Baharon said CBP had brought together scholars through the MMKI initiative to establish a clear distinction between permissible solutions (makhraj) and prohibited practices (hilah).

“On that basis as well, the scholars today will discuss the Syariah law in relation to the currency system so that we can reaffirm the public’s trust in the modern financial system,” he added.
