IJM Chairman Krishnan Tan To Step Down After Four Decades

KUALA LUMPUR, July 29 (Bernama) -- IJM Corporation Bhd chairman Tan Sri Krishnan Tan will step down after more than four decades with the group, as he will not seek re-election at the company's annual general meeting (AGM) on Aug 27.

Tan, who joined IJM's board in 1984 and has served as chairman since 2019, announced his departure in the group's Integrated Annual Report 2026.

“Having had the privilege of participating in the acquisition and merger of the companies that formed IJM Corp, and subsequently serving as its chief executive officer and chairman over the past four decades, I look back with immense pride and gratitude at what we have built together.

“I leave knowing the group is well positioned for its next chapter of growth, and I wish IJM every continued success in the decades ahead,” he said in the report.

Reflecting on the group's recent challenges, including a conditional voluntary takeover offer in January 2026 that shareholders rejected and a subsequent Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) investigation, Tan said IJM was firmly focused on the future.

He said the group's expansion into strategic markets, including the United Kingdom, would broaden its revenue base, while several major projects are due for completion by the end of 2026.
