Penang, Johor, Selangor, Sarawak, KL Dominate Malaysia's Exports In June 2026 - DoSM

KUALA LUMPUR, July 28 (Bernama) -- Penang, Johor, Selangor, Sarawak, and Kuala Lumpur dominated Malaysia’s exports, accounting for 89.6 per cent of June 2026 total exports, according to the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DoSM). 

In the Export-Import Statistics by State June 2026 report released today, DoSM said exports totalled RM177.9 billion, a 45.4 per cent rise of RM55.6 billion, versus June 2025.

Total imports for June 2026 totalled RM163 billion. Total trade amounted to RM340.9 billion.

“Penang remained as the top exporter with a 48.9 per cent share, followed by Johor (17.6 per cent), Selangor (13.8 per cent), Sarawak (six per cent) and Kuala Lumpur (3.2 per cent),” DoSM said.

The rise was due to higher exports from most states, including Penang (+RM39 billion), Johor (+RM8.7 billion), Sarawak (+RM4.3 billion), Selangor (+RM4 billion), Kuala Lumpur (+RM880.4 million), Perak (+RM567.5 million), Kedah (+RM178.7 million), Labuan (+RM153.8 million) and Negeri Sembilan (+RM99.9 million).

Perlis’ exports fell by RM22.1 million, Kelantan by RM63.3 million and Terengganu by RM93.7 million. Other states which saw a fall in exports include Pahang (-RM104.6 million), Melaka (-RM508.7 million) and Sabah (-RM547.5 million), the report said.

Meanwhile, June 2026 imports increased by RM49.7 billion (+43.9 per cent) against June 2025. Penang dominated with a 28.4 per cent share, followed by Johor (24.2 per cent), Selangor (22.6 per cent), Kuala Lumpur (10.9 per cent) and Kedah (4.6 per cent).

The rise in imports was attributed to higher imports in most states: Penang (+RM19.5 billion), Johor (+RM11.9 billion), Selangor (+RM9.2 billion), Kuala Lumpur (+RM8.3 billion), Kedah (+RM1.5 billion), Negeri Sembilan (+RM748.7 million), Perak (+RM398.6 million), Pahang (+RM266.6 million) and Sabah (+RM4.8 million).

Imports fell in Kelantan (-RM12.4 million), Labuan (-RM17.3 million), Perlis (-RM31.6 million), Sarawak (-RM32.6 million), Terengganu (-RM50 million) and Melaka (-RM559.7 million), DoSM said.
