Petronas Advances TriCipta AI Through Third JDA with IBM, Tridiagonal.AI
KUALA LUMPUR, July 8 (Bernama) -- Petronas Carigali Sdn Bhd has signed the third joint development agreement (JDA) with IBM Malaysia Sdn Bhd (IBM) and Tridiagonal.AI Pvt Ltd (T.AI) to advance its flagship TriCipta AI across the upstream value chain.
Petronas Carigali said the latest collaboration brings together IBM’s artificial intelligence (AI)-powered information technology solutions and services and T.AI’s engineering domain-driven AI solutions to develop a comprehensive suite of solutions, enabling upstream capabilities for surface equipment optimisation with AI.
Petronas Carigali chief executive officer, Hazli Sham Kassim, said the company is not just adopting AI to improve workflows but embedding it to drive bottom-line performance, asset reliability, and speed-to-value.
“By utilising AI as a tool, we are empowering our workforce to eliminate operational challenges and make better critical decisions faster,” he said in a statement today.
Petronas Carigali is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Petronas.
Following the two landmark JDAs signed in 2025, Petronas is now expanding the partnership model into a different domain.
“The new initiative aims to enhance operational efficiency, optimise production and maintenance decisions, and ultimately maximise the value of upstream assets,” said Petronas.
To date, Petronas Carigali has successfully deployed AI.SEEK and AI-enabled Global Exploration Basin Screening and Analysis (GEB), developed under the earlier JDAs.
