KUALA LUMPUR, July 1 (Bernama) -- Sarawak state government has approved in principle the appointment of Bintulu Port Holdings Bhd’s wholly owned subsidiary Bintulu Port Sdn Bhd (BPSB) as the port operator of Bintulu Port pursuant to Section 12(2) of the Port Authorities Ordinance, 1961.

Following the change of status of Bintulu Port from federal port to state port  on June 21, the Bintulu Port Authority (Sarawak) and BPSB will enter into and execute an agreement in principle (heads of agreement) pending the finalisation and execution of the port operation concession agreement (POCA).

“Pending the execution of the POCA, BPSB shall continue to control, manage, operate and carry on the business of port undertakings at Bintulu Port in accordance with the applicable laws and the terms to be agreed between the parties,” Bintulu Port Holdings said in a filing with Bursa Malaysia today.
