Bursa Malaysia Ends Morning Session In Negative Territory

KUALA LUMPUR, June 25 (Bernama) -- Bursa Malaysia remained in negative territory at midday today as investors took profit while staying cautious amid the lack of fresh market catalysts, analysts said.

At 12.30 pm, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) fell 0.41 per cent, or 7.03 points, to 1,675.10 from Wednesday’s close of 1,682.13.

The index opened 2.32 points higher at 1,684.45 and moved between 1,672.22 and 1,685.17 throughout the morning trading session.

Market breadth was negative with decliners surpassing gainers 513 to 399. A total of 461 counters were unchanged, 1,378 untraded, and 40 suspended.

Turnover amounted to 1.56 billion units valued at RM1.09 billion.

Hong Leong Investment Bank said in the near term, the FBM KLCI is likely to remain in range-bound consolidation as markets await stronger domestic catalysts to revive buying interest, while balancing easing West Asia tensions and lower oil prices against lingering concerns over conflict spillovers and a still hawkish US Federal Reserve (Fed) outlook.
