KUALA LUMPUR, June 25 (Bernama) -- More than RM4 billion out of the RM5 billion allocation under Bank Negara Malaysia’s (BNM) Small and Medium Enterprise Stabilisation Relief Facility (SME SRF) is still available to assist micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) manage cash flow and reduce operational disruptions.
Economy Minister Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir said that as of June 18, 2026, the financing facility of more than RM700 million had been approved for more than 1,000 SMEs.
“More than RM4 billion of the allocation is still available, indicating sufficient room to help companies manage cash flow and reduce operational disruptions,” he said during the Minister’s Question Time session in the Dewan Rakyat today.
He was replying to a question from Mohd Syahir Che Sulaiman (PN-Bachok) regarding the mitigation measures taken through the National Economic Action Council to address the rise in job losses and the downsizing of business operations following the supply crisis and global economic uncertainty, as well as the results of their implementation so far.
Akmal Nasrullah said the government also provided financing guarantee facilities through additional funds from Syarikat Jaminan Pembiayaan Perniagaan Bhd, amounting to RM5 billion, to support MSME financing.
He said SMEs facing cash flow constraints can contact their respective financial institutions to obtain solutions that suit their business needs, and that financial institutions are committed to processing applications within seven working days.
He said the government is also implementing the Progressive Acceleration for Capability and Employability (PACE) Economic Resilience Package worth more than RM710 million as a comprehensive intervention to protect the employment sector and support business continuity.
“The package focuses on four main pillars, namely social protection, training and job placement, empowerment of gig workers, and strengthening young talent and SMEs.
“Under PACE, more than RM580 million has been allocated through PERKESO to strengthen the Employment Insurance System to assist workers who have lost their jobs, in addition to RM100 million through HRD Corp for training and job placement supported by the MYFutureJobs platform,” he added.
He said the government has also provided RM20 million for training gig workers through the Skills Education Fund Corporation and RM10 million through TalentCorp to support industrial training among SMEs and start-ups.
At the same time, the government is strengthening monitoring of the supply and prices of essential goods and key raw materials needed by the manufacturing, food, agriculture and services sectors, he said.
Meanwhile, replying to Mohd Syahir’s supplementary question on the global supply crisis, Akmal Nasrullah said the government would table an explanation in the form of a ministerial statement in the Dewan Rakyat next Monday, subject to Parliament’s approval for debate.
