KLCI Futures Likely To Trade Within 1,720-1,750 Range Next Week

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 8 (Bernama) -- The FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) futures are expected to trade with an upward bias within 1,720-1,750 range next week, said an analyst.
Rakuten Trade Sdn Bhd vice-president of equity research Thong Pak Leng expects the local market to remain resilient amid geopolitical crisis.
"Our stable interest rate environment, resilient domestic demand and ongoing infrastructure spending will provide support for investor sentiment," he told Bernama.
For the week just ended, the FBM KLCI futures ended mostly lower.
On a Friday-to-Friday basis, the August 2026 and September 2026 contracts fell three points to 1,729.5 and 1,707.5, respectively, December 2026 dropped five points to 1,709.0, while the March 2027 contract stood at 1,694.0.
Weekly turnover tumbled to 40,896 lots from 184,724 lots a week earlier, while open interest slipped to 49,170 contracts from 54,476 contracts previously.
On a Friday-to-Friday basis, the FBM KLCI rose 10.85 points to 1,735.75 from 1,724.90 a week earlier.
