KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 24 (Bernama) -- EPIC Bhd has achieved a significant milestone by winning the Service Sector Excellence Award (Category 4) for the first time at the 2026 Industry Excellence Awards (AKI).

EPIC is a Terengganu state government-linked company under Terengganu Inc Group.

Its group chief executive officer, Dr Muhtar Suhaili, said the award recognised the collective efforts of the EPIC Group’s workforce in advancing its progress, while affirming the company’s capabilities in industrial services and commitment to high standards of management and service delivery.

“Winning this award holds great significance for EPIC Group as it reflects the collective commitment to building a competitive, performance-driven organisation that continually seeks to enhance the quality of its service delivery.

“Beyond recognising our collective efforts, this achievement serves as a catalyst for us to raise performance standards, strengthen organisational capabilities and sustain our growth over the long term,” he said in a statement today.

The Service Sector Excellence Award (Category 4) is open to local companies with annual sales exceeding RM100 million. EPIC emerged as the winner in a competitive field that included two other prominent players in Malaysia’s port industry, Northport Malaysia Bhd and Pelabuhan Tanjung Pelepas Sdn Bhd.

The award ceremony, held at Menara MITI in Kuala Lumpur, was officiated by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. Also present was Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani.

For the financial year ended Dec 31, 2025 (FY2025), EPIC recorded its highest-ever revenue, reaching RM411.9 million compared with RM403.8 million in FY2024.

Its profit before tax also rose to RM36.9 million in FY2025 from RM28.4 million in FY2024, while profit after tax increased to RM20.6 million from RM16.6 million previously.

Muhtar also noted that under the EPIC 2025–2030 Strategic Business Plan (EPIC BEST 2530), the company will continue to enhance its core businesses, drive operational efficiency and pursue growth opportunities that deliver sustainable, long-term value.

“Our priority is to ensure that growth is underpinned by a sound financial foundation, strong governance and the agility to respond to changing industry dynamics,” he added.

Meanwhile, EPIC said amid an increasingly competitive industry landscape, the company will continue to enhance its operational capabilities, upgrade its facilities and pursue strategic projects, including the Kemaman Port Expansion Project and the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) Spur Line.

It said these initiatives are part of the Group’s broader efforts to strengthen its competitiveness, respond to evolving market needs and capitalise on growth opportunities aligned with its expertise and strategic direction.
