Malaysia’s States Offer Diverse Investment Opportunities For Singapore Businesses – High Commissioner

By Anas Abu Hassan

SINGAPORE, Oct 22 (Bernama) -- Malaysia continues to offer distinct advantages across different states in attracting Singaporean investors as it strengthens its position in global supply chains, said Malaysia’s High Commissioner to Singapore, Datin Paduka Anizan Siti Hajjar Adnin.

She noted that Malaysian states present a combination of strategic location, established industrial capabilities, modern infrastructure, skilled talent and access to the wider ASEAN market.

“Hence, we look forward to welcoming more Singapore businesses to explore, invest and grow with us as our diversified economy provides opportunities across manufacturing, services and emerging high-growth industries.

"This applies not only to large multinational corporations, but also to small and medium-sized enterprises seeking to expand their customer base, diversify supply chains, establish regional operations or participate in new industrial ecosystems," she said on Thursday.

The high commissioner was delivering her keynote address during Invest Malaysia Day 2026, organised by Singapore Business Federation (SBF) in partnership with Malaysia Investment Development Authority (MIDA) and CIMB.

Singapore contributed RM25.9 billion in approved investments in the first half of 2026, reaffirming its position as one of Malaysia’s key investment partners.

Therefore, Anizan believed that Malaysia and Singapore are well positioned to benefit equally from closer economic cooperation by leveraging each other's strengths and capabilities.

She noted that Singapore's strengths in finance, international connectivity, professional services and global business networks complement Malaysia's industrial capabilities, talent and operating environment.

“Together, we can transform investment potential into concrete projects that not only strengthen our business partnerships but also create lasting economic value for both countries,” she added.

According to Anizan, the recently announced Budget 2027 outlines Malaysia’s ambition to sustain investment momentum by promoting high-value industries, advanced manufacturing, semiconductors, digitalisation and green technology.

“Overall, Malaysia aims to attract quality investments, create higher-skilled jobs and achieve more productive, sustainable and inclusive economic growth,” she noted.

The one-day Invest Malaysia Day 2026 event aims to help Singaporean businesses understand the distinct advantages offered by various Malaysian states, identify suitable investment locations, and explore available incentives and facilitation support.
