Pantheon Closes Secondaries Fund At US$6 Bln, Beating Target

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 22 (Bernama) -- Pantheon, a global private markets investor, has closed its latest flagship private equity secondaries fund at US$6 billion, well above its US$3.5 billion target. (US$1 = RM4.07)

The amount, 71 per cent above target, makes Pantheon Global Secondaries Fund VIII and its associated vehicles the firm’s largest private equity secondaries fundraise to date, with significant commitments from new investors in Asia and the Middle East, the company said in a statement.

“We enter this next phase with strong conviction in our ability to keep identifying compelling opportunities for our investors,” said Pantheon Partner and Global Head of Private Equity Secondaries, Amyn Hassanally.

The closing follows record deployment of approximately US$3.35 billion across 17 secondary transactions in 2025.

Secondaries funds buy existing stakes in private equity funds or companies from other investors. Pantheon’s fund focuses on mid-market companies globally, with an emphasis on buyouts, and invests through deals led by both fund investors and fund managers, known as general partners (GPs).

Pantheon, which had about US$84 billion in discretionary assets under management as of March 31, has invested in private equity for 40 years, from primary fund commitments to co-investments and secondaries, and also invests in infrastructure and private credit.
