Westports Net Profit Rises To RM342.55 Mln In 3Q 2026

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 21 (Bernama) -- Westports Holdings Bhd’s net profit for the third quarter ended Sept 30, 2026 (3Q 2026) jumped 26 per cent to RM342.55 million from RM271.1 million in the same quarter a year ago, driven by higher gross profit due to improved revenue.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, the company said its revenue also surged 42 per cent to RM1.06 billion during the quarter from RM751.99 million previously.

"In the 3Q 2026, the group recorded operational revenue of RM798 million, a growth of 20 per cent compared to 3Q 2025. This was mainly attributable to higher revenue due to tariff increase and stronger value-added services (VAS) revenue," it said.

For the six months ended Sept 30, 2026 (9M 2026), net profit advanced to RM1.02 billion from RM725.19 million, while revenue climbed to RM2.83 billion from RM2.06 billion previously.

"The group generated operational revenue of RM2.4 billion for the 9M 2025, 26 per cent higher than the same period last year," it said.

On prospects, Westports said the global interest rate environment has pivoted upward as cumulative inflationary pressures have finally reached financial markets after energy prices spiked again.

Nevertheless, consumption propensity has remained resilient despite such headwinds, as technology-related investments have supported economic development and growth optimism.

"The group’s transhipment volume partly reflects how liners navigate and capitalise on the evolving regional supply chains and growing economic requirements, whereas gateway reflects domestic containerised requirements.

"Westports now expects overall container throughput to be at least the same as the previous year, but fast-evolving conditions could still materially affect the volume outlook," it said.
