Hologic To Buy Spanish Breast Cancer Test Firm Reveal Genomics

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 20 (Bernama) -- United States women’s health company Hologic has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Reveal Genomics, a Barcelona-based precision oncology company that develops advanced genomic tests to help guide personalised cancer treatment.

“Reveal Genomics’ portfolio is a strong strategic complement to our existing oncology offering within Diagnostic Solutions and would allow us to support even more women diagnosed with breast cancer,” said Hologic chief executive officer (CEO) of Diagnostic Solutions, Vitor Rocha.

Meanwhile, Reveal Genomics CEO and co-founder, Patricia Villagrasa-Gonzalez said the company was founded to bring precision oncology closer to patients and improve breast cancer treatment decisions.

“Joining Hologic gives us the scale and capabilities to accelerate that mission and reach many more patients worldwide,” she said.

Reveal Genomics’ tests include HER2DX, which is designed to help optimise therapy for patients with human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2)-positive breast cancer.

In a statement, Hologic said the tests complement its existing oncology diagnostics, including the Breast Cancer Index (BCI), a guideline-recognised genomic test that helps inform decisions on extended endocrine therapy for women with hormone receptor-positive (HR+) early-stage breast cancer.

The company said the deal would significantly expand its diagnostic oncology portfolio, with the combined range of tests expected to help inform treatment decisions for more women with breast cancer.

Completion of the acquisition is subject to Spanish regulatory approval and other customary closing conditions.
