Malaysia Must Plan Data Centre Growth To Attract Quality Investments - Anwar

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 19 (Bernama) -- Malaysia must strategically plan the growth of its data centre industry to attract quality investments, strengthen the digital economy and ensure the sustainable use of energy and water while protecting the environment, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said.

He said infrastructure readiness, energy supply and resource-use efficiency required closer scrutiny as the country sought to develop the industry sustainably.

In a post on X, Anwar said this after chairing the National Economic Action Council (MTEN) meeting today.

The meeting also reviewed the Circular Economy Framework (RKEK), which aims to improve resource efficiency, reduce waste and promote the reuse of products and materials for as long as possible before they become waste.

“Effective coordination across sectors, ministries and agencies is needed to ensure the circular economy approach is implemented comprehensively and sustainably,” he said.
