CapBay Finances Over 2,700 SMEs, Records RM6 Bln In Financing Since 2016
KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 16 (Bernama) -- CapBay Group has recorded cumulative financing exceeding RM6 billion since 2016, issuing 45,000 financing notes to more than 2,700 Malaysian small and medium enterprises (SMEs) across 20 industries.
The company said it channels working capital through joint investment frameworks such as the Malaysia Co-Investment Fund and the NIMP Strategic Co-Investment Fund, both under the Securities Commission Malaysia.
In addition, CapBay, through its Supply Chain Finance and Peer-to-Peer (P2P) Financing Platform, analyses real-time trade data, invoice authenticity and buyer payment records without requiring property as collateral, thereby shortening the approval period.
"Stepping into its second decade, CapBay will continue to deepen public-private partnerships and refine artificial intelligence (AI)-based credit assessments to reach more businesses in Malaysia across various sectors," it said in a statement today.
Meanwhile, co-founder and group chief executive officer Ang Xing Xian said the amount of financing recorded over the past decade is not something to be celebrated merely for its value, but represents thousands of employee salaries paid, contracts executed and businesses that continue to operate.
Commenting on Budget 2027, CapBay noted that the budget strengthens the role of P2P platforms.
The government has allocated RM270 million to attract private capital to SMEs, mid-sized companies and social enterprises through P2P financing and equity crowdfunding platforms.
The government has also set a fixed stamp duty of RM10 on financing agreements entered into through the P2P platforms from Jan 1, 2027, to Dec 31, 2030.
Ang said the support for P2P platforms under Budget 2027 confirms that regulated digital financing has now become part of how Malaysia funds SMEs.
"Our responsibility in the coming decade is to channel that capital to every viable business that needs it," he added.
