BYD Sime Darby Motors Provides Nine EVs For Transport Expo Asia 2026
PUTRAJAYA, Oct 15 (Bernama) -- BYD Sime Darby Motors is providing nine electric vehicles (EVs) to support Transport Expo Asia (TXA) 2026, allowing international delegates to experience the company’s electric mobility technology firsthand.
BYD Sime Motors Managing Director Adeline Lew said the partnership, as the expo’s official vehicle partner, gives BYD an opportunity to showcase the quality and reliability of its vehicles while supporting the development of Malaysia’s electric mobility ecosystem.
“We are providing nine vehicles for this event, with eight to ferry VIP guests to ensure a seamless experience, while another vehicle will be displayed at the exhibition.
“This is also an opportunity for us to showcase the quality and reliability of our BYD vehicles and let guests experience our technology firsthand,” she said at a symbolic flag-off ceremony at the Ministry of Transport (MOT) here today.
At the event, BYD Malaysia Managing Director Jacob Ma handed over the vehicle keys to the Transport Ministry secretary-general Datuk Seri Jana Santhiran Muniayan, symbolising MOT’s role as host and owner of TXA 2026.
Also present was Alpine Integrated Solution Sdn Bhd Managing Director Anita Jacobson.
Lew said TXA 2026 was an important platform to bring together country leaders, stakeholders, and technology leaders to explore further initiatives to advance Malaysia’s electric mobility ecosystem.
“We want to take this opportunity to let our guests experience the quality and reliability of our BYD vehicles, and this also provides an opportunity for us to showcase our vehicles and to let them experience BYD technology,” she added.
Of the nine vehicles, eight will be used to transport international speakers and delegates between Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), the official hotel partner Hyatt Regency Kuala Lumpur and the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC), while one BYD ATTO 3 will be displayed at the expo.
The fleet comprises one BYD SEALION 7, three BYD ATTO 3, three BYD SEAL 6 and two DENZA D9 vehicles.
The vehicles used for shuttle operations will be driven by personnel from the Road Transport Department (JPJ) and other agencies under the MOT in line with the event’s emphasis on road safety and professionalism.
Meanwhile, Jana Santhiran said welcoming international speakers and delegates in ministry-staffed electric vehicles was a practical demonstration of MOT’s commitment to cleaner, safer mobility.
Ma said TXA 2026 provides a platform for government leaders and industry stakeholders to exchange ideas on the future of mobility.
“Electric mobility is already shaping a cleaner and more sustainable future, and it is important for like-minded stakeholders to come together to explore how we can move this forward,” he said.
TXA 2026, themed “Future on the Move: Accelerating Next-Gen Transport”, will be held at MITEC from Oct 20 to 22.
Hosted by MOT and co-organised with Alpine Integrated Solution Sdn Bhd as a strategic partner, the expo will bring together government leaders, innovators and industry players across the logistics, mobility and infrastructure sectors.
