Malaysia-Uzbekistan Bilateral Trade Hits RM430.20 Mln In First Half Of 2026
KANGAR, Oct 11 (Bernama) -- Bilateral trade between Malaysia and Uzbekistan reached RM430.20 million (US$108 million) in the first six months of this year, reflecting significant potential for expanding economic cooperation between the two countries.
Malaysia’s Ambassador to Uzbekistan Rafedah Abdul Aziz said the current trade value could be increased further, particularly through the manufacturing, electrical and electronics, food, and commodity sectors, including oil and palm-based products.
“This potential creates opportunities for the two countries to expand market access, strengthen business ties and explore new mutually beneficial investment opportunities,” she said in a statement issued by Istana Arau today.
She conveyed the information to the Raja Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail, while bidding farewell to His Royal Highness and the Raja Puan Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Dr Hajah Lailatul Shahreen Akashah Khalil, at Islam Karimov Tashkent International Airport on Thursday night.
The Perlis Raja Muda concluded his working visit to Uzbekistan, during which he officiated the 10th International Seminar on Nabawi Heritage 2026 (SWAN X) in Samarkand.
Universiti Islam Antarabangsa Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin (UniSIRAJ) participated as a strategic organising partner, collaborating with Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM).
Also accompanying the royal couple on the visit was their second daughter, Hajah Sharifah Adriana Jamalullail.
Rafedah expressed the commitment of the Malaysian Embassy in Tashkent to strengthening bilateral relations through various strategic engagements with stakeholders in both Malaysia and Uzbekistan.
“Our efforts also focus on exploring new areas of cooperation, particularly in Uzbekistan and the Central Asian region as a whole, covering trade, investment, education and TVET (technical and vocational education and training), the halal industry, Islamic finance, tourism, culture, green energy, science and technology, as well as artificial intelligence,” she added.
