Budget 2027: RM8 Bln TVET Allocation To Boost Efforts To Nurture Skilled Talent - UniMAP

KANGAR, Oct 10 (Bernama) -- The RM8 billion allocated for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) across various ministries under the 2027 Budget could strengthen efforts to develop a skilled workforce that meets industry needs and supports the nation’s economic transformation agenda.

Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) vice-chancellor Datuk Prof Dr Zaliman Sauli said the government’s commitment to talent development and technical education was in line with the university’s role as a technical institution specialising in engineering, technology and TVET-based education.

He expressed confidence that the government’s focus on strategic sectors, including semiconductors, artificial intelligence (AI), the digital economy and other high-value industries, would create opportunities for UniMAP to expand applied research, strengthen industry partnerships and drive innovation.

“As a technical university, UniMAP is committed to ensuring that its education, research and talent development initiatives remain aligned with technological advancements and industry needs.

“Close collaboration between universities, industry and the government is crucial to ensuring that graduates are equipped with not only academic knowledge but also practical skills and the ability to solve real-world problems,” he said in a statement today.

Zaliman said UniMAP would continue to work closely with the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE), government agencies, industry players and alumni to maximise the opportunities offered under the 2027 Budget.
