Allocation Of RM490 Mln Will Be Utilised To Increase Human Resources, Modern Technology - Saifuddin

KULIM, Oct 10 (Bernama) -- The allocation of RM490 million to the Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency (MCBA) through Budget 2027 will be utilised to increase human resources and strengthen the use of modern technology in national border security control.

Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said the substantial increase in allocation, compared to RM20 million last year, reflects the government's commitment to empowering MCBA's role as the single agency responsible for national border control and protection.

He stated that this allocation is crucial for enhancing MCBA's operational capabilities in line with its expanding responsibilities.

"This shows how the current government is positioning MCBA as a single border agency, a border control and protection agency entering a new phase.

"This means that with an allocation of this size, first, it is a matter of staffing, because right now it is operating at entry points under strength while tasks are growing larger. So with this allocation, we can further increase our human resource capabilities," he said.

He said this during a press conference after attending the National Discourse Programme on Surah Al-Hujurat: Core of Harmony and National Security here today.

Saifuddin Nasution noted that MCBA also requires specialised equipment and state-of-the-art technological tools, including closed-circuit television (CCTV) systems, to tighten control at the country's border entry points.

Commenting on the overall RM22 billion allocation channeled to the Ministry of Home Affairs (KDN) under Budget 2027, he stated that the welfare of uniformed personnel under the ministry remains a priority. This includes providing more comfortable quarters, upgrading existing facilities, and improving workplace infrastructure.

He added that KDN will also intensify the adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) across the service systems of agencies under the ministry to boost productivity, efficiency, and service delivery quality.

According to him, KDN has set the direction for AI utilisation over the past three years through the "AI for KDN, KDN for AI" approach, aligning with the importance of technology in security and service management aspects.

"AI technology is already being used in various aspects of security control. We are ready to adopt this technology in the form of applications to enhance productivity, efficiency, and service quality, apart from optimising expenditures," he said.

During yesterday's Budget 2027 tabling, KDN received a total allocation of RM22 billion, encompassing both operating and development expenditures.
