Budget 2027: Pipe Replacement Initiative To Benefit Water Infrastructure Sector
KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 10 (Bernama) -- The RM2.5 billion allocation for the national non-revenue water (NRW) programme under Budget 2027 is expected to support demand for water infrastructure products as Malaysia steps up efforts to replace ageing pipelines nationwide.
Resintech Bhd founder and managing director Datuk Dr Teh Kim Poo welcomed the initiative to replace 1,900 kilometres of ageing water pipes nationwide, saying the allocation would support the development of the country’s water infrastructure sector.
“The government's allocation of RM2.5 billion towards replacing ageing water pipelines is a positive development for Malaysia's water infrastructure sector.
“We believe this initiative will support demand for piping systems and related infrastructure products as projects are progressively implemented,” he said in a statement today.
Other water-related initiatives under Budget 2027 include improvements to water supply infrastructure in Kelantan and the development of sewerage infrastructure in Kuala Terengganu.
The government has also allocated RM3.3 billion for rural basic infrastructure, including clean water supply, which could create further opportunities for companies involved in water infrastructure development.
Resintech, which recently celebrated its 50th anniversary in the industry, said it remains committed to supporting the country’s infrastructure development while pursuing sustainable growth opportunities in domestic and regional markets.
The group will continue to monitor the implementation of Budget 2027 initiatives and evaluate relevant opportunities in line with its business strategy, it added.
