HRD Corp To Use RM3 Bln Levy Fund For 3 Mln Training Opportunities
KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 10 (Bernama) -- The Human Resource Development Corporation (HRD Corp) will channel RM3 billion from its levy fund to support three million training opportunities to strengthen the nation's workforce under Budget 2027.
HRD Corp chief executive Datuk Shamir Aziz said the initiative also advances the 13th Malaysia Plan's target of increasing the share of skilled workers to 35 per cent by 2030, focusing on professional certification and industry-driven upskilling.
He said HRD Corp will keep expanding training and retraining to boost job prospects and career advancement, while helping workers and businesses ride out economic shifts and evolving industry demands.
"HRD Corp will stay focused on training that meets industry needs, recognised professional certification, and the strategic use of levy funds, so that employers' investment in skills development delivers real value to both workers and businesses.
"At the same time, upskilling and retraining must reach every segment of society, opening up more job opportunities and career advancement, and in turn building a more skilled, productive and competitive workforce," he said in a statement.
Separately, RM40 million has been allocated for the MADANI Professional Caregivers Skills initiative, expected to benefit 8,000 participants, including school leavers, technical and vocational education and training (TVET) graduates, homemakers and job seekers.
HRD Corp said the funding covers training costs, attendance allowances, and training kits for elderly care, infant and childcare, care for persons with disabilities, and postpartum care.
