Budget 2027 To Strengthen Malaysia’s Competitiveness, Growth, Address Cost Of Living - Khazanah

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 10 (Bernama) -- Budget 2027 will continue to strengthen Malaysia’s long-term competitiveness and economic growth while prioritising the people through measures to ease the cost of living, raise wages and widen opportunities, said Khazanah Nasional Bhd.

Its managing director, Datuk Amirul Feisal Wan Zahir, said the budget came at an important time as Malaysia navigates a volatile global environment marked by geopolitical uncertainty, supply chain pressures and elevated fuel prices amid the ongoing conflict in West Asia.

He said Budget 2027 emphasised quality growth, focusing on strategic sectors such as semiconductors, energy transition, infrastructure, enterprise development and talent to build a stronger, more competitive and future-ready economy.

“These priorities are critical to deepening Malaysia’s industrial base, enhancing economic complexity and creating higher-value opportunities for businesses and workers,” he said in a statement.

Amirul Feisal said the budget also maintained an inclusive approach to ensure national development benefited all segments of society, including workers, youth, entrepreneurs, Bumiputera companies, micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), and communities facing economic and climate-related challenges.

He added that the Budget 2027’s focus on vendor development, innovation and access to new markets would create further opportunities for Bumiputera businesses to expand.

Khazanah will continue to support the Government’s economic and development priorities through initiatives such as Dana Impak, Jelawang Capital, Dana Ciptawan, Dana Warisan, K-Youth, Bakat MADANI and Yayasan Hasanah, which support enterprise development, talent, innovation, community resilience and long-term national competitiveness.

“We will continue to collaborate with other government-linked investment companies under the Ministry of Finance’s GEAR-uP programme to mobilise capital more effectively through disciplined investments, catalytic partnerships and impact-driven programmes that help build a more resilient Malaysia for current and future generations,” he added.

On Friday, Prime Minister and Finance Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim tabled Budget 2027, amounting to RM459.8 billion, comprising RM376.8 billion in federal operating expenditure and RM83 billion in federal development expenditure.
