FBM KLCI Futures Seen Trading With Cautious Upside Bias Next Week

By Durratul Ain Ahmad Fuad

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 10 (Bernama) -- The FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) futures contract is expected to trade with a cautious upside bias next week as more attractive valuations could encourage selective bargain hunting amid fragile investor sentiment.

Rakuten Trade Sdn Bhd vice-president of equity research Thong Pak Leng said selective bargain hunting could support a gradual recovery, although geopolitical uncertainties, elevated energy prices and volatile bond yields could limit the upside.

“Therefore, we anticipate the FBM KLCI to trade within a range of 1,600-1,630 next week,” he told Bernama.

The FBM KLCI futures ended mostly higher this week, tracking the stronger underlying cash market.

On a Friday-to-Friday basis, the October 2026 contract eased 15.0 to 1,607.5, the November 2026 and December 2026 contracts fell 14 points each to 1,609.0 and 1,615.0, respectively, and the March 2027 contract decreased 13 points to 1,600.5.
