MATRADE Gets RM60 Mln To Build Local Companies' Capacity To Enter Overseas Markets

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 9 (Bernama) -- The government has allocated RM60 million to the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) for next year to help local companies build the capacity to enter and diversify into overseas markets.

When tabling Budget 2027 in the Dewan Rakyat today, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim also said Bank Pembangunan Malaysia Bhd (BPMB) would provide RM1 billion in financing to help local micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) enter export markets.

Meanwhile, he said, the National Information Dissemination Centre (NADI) continues to be strengthened with an RM142 million allocation to enable more young entrepreneurs to venture into online business.

“The government, together with the Retirement Fund (Incorporated), has established the RM50 million UNIVC Fund to bring university research findings to market,” he said.

He said the government is also prepared to shoulder early-stage risks so that more private capital comes forward to support local innovations.

In addition, he said RM10 million has been allocated for the “Jom Beli Produk Malaysia” (JOM MALAYSIA) campaign to bring rural products and high-value services onto digital platforms and into global markets.

“To support the low-altitude economy, such as the drone sector, the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) is investing RM50 million to develop a digital system for managing airspace, national test sites, and safety standards,” he said.

Anwar also said that in the first eight months of 2026, the country’s trade reached RM2.5 trillion, with exports surging 31.2 per cent to RM1.36 trillion.
