PM Anwar Urges Malaysian Companies To Expand In Saudi Arabia
KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 28 (Bernama) -- Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has urged more Malaysian companies to expand their presence in Saudi Arabia and pursue collaborations that benefit both countries.
Anwar, who received a courtesy visit from Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) Governor Yasir Othman Al-Rumayyan and his delegation, said PIF’s wholly owned subsidiary RUA AlHaram AlMakki is exploring a collaboration with Malaysian Resources Corporation Bhd for transit-oriented development in the Jabal Al Kaabah area of Makkah.
RUA AlHaram AlMakki is the master developer of the King Salman Gate development in the holy city.
“This potential cooperation is a manifestation of investors' confidence in Malaysia's capabilities, while also opening new opportunities for our businesses and skilled workforce,” Anwar said in a post on X.com today.
He said he and Al-Rumayyan also exchanged views on opportunities to strengthen Malaysia-Saudi Arabia economic cooperation, particularly in construction, infrastructure, facilities management, energy and the halal economy.
PIF is one of the world’s largest sovereign wealth funds, with assets under management exceeding US$900 billion. As a key driver of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, it also offers opportunities for cooperation with international partners.
