HERE Technologies, NIO Expand Intelligent Navigation Collaboration In Europe

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 23 (Bernama) -- HERE Technologies, the mapping and location data company, and NIO Inc have expanded their collaboration to advance intelligent navigation and artificial intelligence (AI)-driven driving experiences across Europe.

The expanded collaboration extends HERE's location technologies beyond NIO's Firefly model to the company's wider European vehicle lineup, including the ET5, ET7, EL6, EL7 and EL8.

Under the expanded relationship, NIO is adopting HERE's streaming map capabilities to provide continuously updated map content across European markets. The updates cover changes to road networks, traffic regulations and points of interest to support more accurate navigation.

HERE Technologies Senior Vice President and General Manager for Asia Pacific, Deon Newman said the collaboration would support NIO's expansion in Europe by providing mapping, navigation and location technologies tailored to the region.

Meanwhile, NIO Vice President of Global Business Development, Chris Chen said the expanded collaboration would provide drivers with more up-to-date map experiences while supporting future developments in intelligent navigation and assisted driving across Europe.

In a statement, HERE said its location intelligence and automotive-grade map data provide vehicles with information on road conditions, lane configurations, traffic regulations and other changes in the road environment.

The collaboration combines HERE's mapping and location capabilities with NIO's smart electric vehicle technologies to support the development of assisted driving functions for European road networks and driving conditions.

Looking ahead, the companies will continue exploring the use of location intelligence and updated map data in AI-driven driving experiences, including future innovations enabled by NIO World Model and Navigation on Autopilot (NOA).
