Tanjong Malim Hi-Tech Park With RM1.4 Bln GDV Targeted For Completion By 3Q2029
TANJONG MALIM, Sept 21 (Bernama) -- The development of the Tanjong Malim Hi-Tech Park, covering an area of 178.8 hectares with an estimated gross development value (GDV) of RM1.4 billion, is targeted to be fully completed by the third quarter of 2029.
Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad said the first phase of the project developed by Setia Awan Land Sdn Bhd involves an area of 41.6 hectares, with approximately 50 per cent of it already acquired since its development began in June 2025.
"This development has successfully attracted interest from investors in the manufacturing and automotive sectors, as well as interest from other companies looking to establish or expand their operations in Tanjong Malim.
"That's why I see Setia Awan's decision to develop the Tanjong Malim Hi-Tech Park as something significant, and these figures convey a very clear message that there is confidence in the future of Tanjong Malim," he said.
He said this at the Launching Ceremony of the Tanjong Malim Hi-Tech Park and Ionera Commercial Development on Jalan Protokol, here, today.
Also present were Perak State Legal Advisor, Datuk Azmir Shah Zainal Abidin, the State Financial Officer, Datuk Mohd Zaki Mahyudin, and Setia Awan Director, Datuk Marcus Doh.
Saarani noted that the development of the Tanjong Malim Hi-Tech Park is in line with the state government's efforts to attract quality investments and strengthen the high-tech industrial sector in Perak.
He stressed that it is capable of opening more opportunities for investors and industry players to conduct business activities, thereby providing economic spillover to the local residents.
"When more investments come in, it not only creates job opportunities but also stimulates economic activities and support services around Tanjong Malim. The state government will also ensure that the necessary ecosystem is available to facilitate investors in conducting their operations," he said.
Meanwhile, Marcus shared that the development of the Tanjong Malim Hi-Tech Park is expected to create between 10,000 and 15,000 job opportunities when fully operational, thereby providing economic spillover to the local community.
He pointed out that the job opportunities are expected to cover various sectors following the entry of companies in the fields of manufacturing, automotive, technology, logistics and support services in the industrial park.
"For us, this development is not just about providing industrial land, but building a complete ecosystem with infrastructure, commercial facilities, and support services so that businesses can operate and grow in the long term," he added.
