Johor Records RM59.4 Bln In Approved Investments In 1H 2026 – Akmal
JOHOR BAHRU, Sept 17 (Bernama) -- Johor recorded approved investments totalling RM59.4 billion for the first half of 2026 (1H 2026), covering the manufacturing sector, machinery manufacturing, as well as electrical and electronics.
Economy Minister Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir said the investment performance for the first six months of this year indicated a consistently positive investment trend in the state.
He noted that based on the current economic environment, investment projections need to be made more rationally and cautiously for the next quarter.
"Only this year, the investment totalled RM59 billion for the first half. But based on the context this year, I think we need to be more rational, or the projections should be a bit more cautious," he told reporters after a mock cheque presentation ceremony at Medan Niaga Kampung Melayu Majidee here today.
Touching on last year's performance, Akmal said Johor's economy recorded strong growth of eight per cent in 2025, with the state's economic size expanding to RM170.9 billion, the growth rate being among the highest recorded last year.
Meanwhile, Akmal Nasrullah, who is also the Member of Parliament for Johor Bahru, handed over RM169,000 from the parliamentary allocation to improve the facilities of five health clinics in the district.
The contributions were channelled to Tebrau Health Clinic, Majidee Health Clinic, Majidee Mother and Child Clinic, Antoi Village Clinic, and Larkin Health Clinic to address immediate needs such as air conditioning installation, painting, and awning installation.
He said that the improvement of public facilities must keep pace with the rapid economic development of the state, adding that the proposal for the construction of the new Type 2 Majidee Health Clinic has now been approved and is subject to the allocation under the 2027 Budget.
The new project is planned to replace the existing facility that has been operating since 1971 to meet the needs of more than 198,000 residents and serve approximately 600 patients a day in a more integrated manner.
