Anwar To Meet Modi, Industry Captains Today

NEW DELHI, Sept 12 (Bernama) -- Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is scheduled to have three bilateral meetings today on the sidelines of the 18th BRICS Leaders’ Summit here.

The day starts off with a bilateral meeting with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, followed by one with Anwar’s Indian counterpart and summit host Narendra Modi.

His third bilateral meeting is with Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed.

The Prime Minister is also scheduled to have a pull aside meeting with Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

This will be followed by one-on-one business meetings, including with Adani Group, which has positioned itself to be the market leader in its transport logistics and energy utility portfolio businesses focusing on large scale infrastructure development in India.

Also lined up are Segula Technologies India Pvt Ltd, a global engineering group; AWL Agri Business Ltd, one of India's largest food and fast-moving consumer goods companies; and Motherson Group, a leading global design, engineering, manufacturing, assembly, and logistics  specialist.

Later in the day, the Prime Minister will attend a gala dinner for leaders of BRICS member, partner and outreach countries at the Bharat Mandapan, the exhibition and convention centre where the summit will take place.

The summit, themed “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability”, will focus on strengthening resilience, economic cooperation as well as trade and investment reforms.

As a founding member of BRICS, India has previously held its chairship three times -- in 2012, 2016 and 2021. India assumed its fourth BRICS chairship on Jan 1, 2026.

Malaysia’s participation in the BRICS Leaders’ Summit is in its capacity as a BRICS partner country since Jan 1, 2025.
