CPO Futures End Lower On Weaker Export Estimates

By Muhammad Fawwaz Thaqif Nor Afandi

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 10 (Bernama) -- Crude palm oil (CPO) futures on Bursa Malaysia Derivatives ended lower today, weighed down by weaker palm oil export estimates despite higher crude oil prices.

Fastmarkets Palm Oil Analytics senior analyst Dr Sathia Varqa said bearish export numbers for August also dampened market sentiment.

“Looks like prices pulled back on the bearish Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB) data and Sept 1-10, 2026 export estimates despite high crude oil prices,” he told Bernama.

According to AmSpec, Malaysia’s palm oil exports for Sept 1-10 fell 17.46 per cent to 357,194 tonnes from 432,742 tonnes in the same period in August, while Intertek Testing Services (ITS) estimated exports at 393,295 tonnes, down 11.71 per cent from 445,466 tonnes previously.

Sathia added that MPOB data showed Malaysia’s palm oil exports declined 7.5 per cent to 1.29 million tonnes in August 2026 from 1.39 million tonnes in July.

The December 2026 contract was down RM76 to RM5,033 per tonne, January 2027 declined RM66 to RM5,154 per tonne, and February 2027 slid RM52 to RM5,248 per tonne.
