IPC Systems Targets Net-Zero Emissions Across Value Chain By 2050

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 9 (Bernama) -- IPC Systems Inc (IPC), a global financial communications and trading connectivity provider, announced that its greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reduction targets have been validated by SBTi Services, confirming that they conform with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) criteria, including its target to achieve net-zero emissions across its value chain by 2050.

In a statement, IPC said the validation comes as financial institutions face greater scrutiny over emissions across their value chains, with regulators, investors and clients raising expectations for climate accountability and the sustainability performance of suppliers and partners.

“Our targets go beyond our operations to cover what we buy and what we deliver. Many of our clients are working to emissions targets of their own, and they need suppliers moving at the same pace. Validation by the Science Based Targets initiative is what lets them rely on our numbers,” said IPC ESG Officer, Manuel Ibáñez.

IPC serves more than 750 financial institutions globally, including the majority of trading desks across the top 100 global banks. The company said the validation gives customers independently assessed, science-aligned data to support their own value-chain emissions accounting and sustainability goals.

IPC’s validated targets cover emissions from its operations, purchased goods and services, and the use of products it delivers to customers. Based on 2022 modelling, the targets include a 35.65 per cent reduction in absolute Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 2030, alongside a 32.5 per cent reduction in Scope 3 emissions from purchased goods and services and use of sold products.

By 2050, IPC aims to reduce absolute Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 90 per cent, as well as Scope 3 emissions by 90 per cent, while achieving net-zero GHG emissions across Scopes 1, 2 and 3 throughout its value chain.

IPC said it will prioritise direct emissions reductions across its value chain, with any residual emissions permanently neutralised before reaching net-zero. Its targets are listed on the SBTi Target Dashboard.

The validation marks a milestone in IPC’s broader commitment to responsible operations and advancing its infrastructure towards a net-zero future as global trading workflows evolve.
