Govt Studies Proposals To Boost MSMEs Under Budget 2027 -- Amir Hamzah
KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 28 (Bernama) -- The government is studying various proposals and initiatives to help boost business activity among micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) under Budget 2027, Finance Minister II Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah said.
He said the proposals came from various agencies and ministries, as well as from engagement sessions with non-governmental organisations.
“MSMEs are one of the backbones of the national economy. In terms of the government’s priorities, we will pay greater attention to MSMEs in Budget 2027.
“We have received many proposals and what is important now is to assess all of them based on what the government can implement,” he told reporters after attending Bank Simpanan Nasional’s (BSN) 69th National Day celebration here today.
Budget 2027 will be tabled by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on Oct 9.
Amir Hamzah said the budget would also focus on 10 thrusts outlined in the Budget 2027 framework.
“This includes matters that are important to the people, such as addressing the cost of living, providing meaningful jobs and stimulating the Malaysian economy so that we can continue creating more opportunities for Malaysians,” he said.
Meanwhile, he said the government wanted to ensure that all segments of society, particularly MSMEs, benefited from the country’s economic growth.
“We saw strong gross domestic product (GDP) growth of 6.0 per cent in the second quarter of 2026.
“Therefore, we want to ensure that the benefits of the country’s GDP growth reach all parts of the country, including MSMEs,” he added.
BSN’s 69th National Day celebration culminated in the ‘Cerita Mereka, Jiwa Malaysia’ campaign through the BSN Mikro MADANI Carnival.
The carnival brought together BSN micro-entrepreneurs from various backgrounds, including some of the 69 micro-entrepreneurs featured in the campaign, to celebrate their stories, efforts and contributions to the economy and local communities.
